Tiny Master

Tiny Master

The person who helped me out is my mom. She’s the one who is always cleaning and when our dogs (now dog) would smell, she’d be hauling them to the nearest bucket to get clean. In the winter though, we’d have to shield the drain and stick them into the shower the same way we’d do the cat. The only difference is that our dogs were German Shephards, big enough to open the door when they want to get out. So, she’d have me on the outside of the shower, making sure the door doesn’t hold while she yells at me almost in anger to keep it closed tight and yells at the dog to stay still (getting wet and soapy in the process). When they’re finished and dried up, she’d stand in the door of the shower, her tongue handing from one side comically while catching her breath and her glasses lopsided. She’d tell me to get the cleaning supplies and start on the shower after taking care of the dog.

  1. Some people may say that it’s cruel because cats don’t like water or because they clean themselves, but they don’t know what my cats are capable of getting into. My oldest cat used to go out in his younger years and one particularly dirty day that he came back, my mom and I couldn’t take it anymore. However, it was a nightmare. He is a farm cat and a scrapper so after that disaster, we thought it best to let him go and not think twice about it. It wasn’t until my new cat needed a bath that we decided to give it a second go. It wasn’t too bad, we did it in our walk in shower with a big bucket of warm water and a Tupperware bowl to scoop it out. Once he was squeaky clean, we did the unimaginable and decided to get our oldest one too in the process. It was a little bit of a challenge in the beginning but we managed. Especially since he’s older, it’s something that needs to get taken care of. But now it’s almost fun to give them a little shower bath.
